Plans, dreams, ambitions

All begin at such a young age.

When anything is possible.

So many options,

But one sticks with you forever:

Doctor, lawyer, artist

Working all your life to achieve a goal,

Only doing things to get you there,

Ignoring everything else to reach your dream.

Until something happens.

Someone, somewhere, something.

Taking you from your path

Showing you all the things you missed:

Excitement, love, pain.

Giving you a new start

The path is gone,

It has disappeared form your view.

There is no way back.

You are lost,

And what led you away

Has found its own path.

All is gone:

Everything, everyone, every sound.

There is silence.

As you sit alone,

Contemplating what to do

A determination settles around.

You rise and set about a new path:

Quickly, strongly, bravely.

Until new something stands in the way.
