What happens to the princess trapped in a tower

When no one comes to save her?

What happens when the princess is the dragon the princes must slay

And the girl trapped all alone?

What happens when the princess builds the tower herself

Chained to monsters you can't see?

What happens to the princess who says she doesn't want to be saved

But can't save herself on her own?

What happens to the princess so distracted by the fine clothes and jewels

She can't see the bars of her gilded cage?

What happens to the princess who's accepted her fate

When she stops dreaming of a knight in shining armor?

What happens to the princess the world's forgotten about

Who no one knows exists?

That's not the princess in the fairytales

Or the warrior from the fantasies

So she shrivels to dust, alone and unloved

Lost to all of history
