I shouldn't be thankful for hate,

But feeling anything is a blessing


I shouldn't go looking for pain,

But it's my most reliable friend


I shouldn't give myself away,

But I like feeling like I matter


I shouldn't trust easily,

But sometimes I just need someone to listen


I shouldn't want unattainable things,

But what's life without disappointment


I shouldn't want to die,

But I'm tired of failing to find reasons to live


I shouldn't want a lot of things,

But I do, so get over it.
